Forte Oil shuts down rumours it’s selling petrol at N115

Nigerian indigenous petroleum marketing company, Forte Oil Plc, on Wednesday denied social media gossip that it reduced its pump price of petrol from N145 to N115 per litre.

In a statement via its Twitter handle @ForteOilNg, the firm said: “Our attention has been drawn to a reduction in price to 115 NGN at our gas stations. This is false.

“Forte Oil Plc would use its official handles to inform its customers and the buying public of any price change.

“We therefore inform our customers and the buying public to ignore these false rumours as they are untrue and we disassociate ourselves from same.”

The rebuttal came on the day the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) began a strike action against the increase in petrol price from N86.50K to N145.

Forte Oil is owned by businessman Femi Otedola.

Pop star, Tiwa Savage, is the company’s brand ambassador.
