Former acting NIMASA DG jailed 42 years for fraud

A Federal High Court in Lagos has sentenced the convicted former acting Director-General of Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Calistus Obi, to 42 years imprisonment.

Justice Mojisola Olatoregun, in her judgement on Monday, also gave Mr Obi an option of N252 million as fine for N136 million fraud.

The court also found Alu Dismas, an aide to former NIMASA DG, 
Patrick Akpobolokemi, guilty of the charges.

The duo were found guilty on counts 2, 3, 4, 6, 7 & 8 and sentenced to 7 years on each count brought against them by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

EFCC had instituted an eight-count charge against them on April 12, 2016.
