2 men remanded in prison for allegedly stealing female lawyer’s phone

For allegedly selling and buying a stolen phone, two men named Kola Fakilede and Sola Adekunle are to remain behind bars in prison until the end of January, an Ile-Ife Magistrates’ Court in Osun ruled on Thursday.

Both Fakilede, 34, and Adekunle, 22, are facing a three-count charge of conspiracy, stealing and receiving stolen goods.

The accused pleaded not guilty.

Magistrate Olalekan Ijiyode, in his ruling, remanded the duo in prison pending when the bail application would be considered.

Earlier, the prosecutor, Sgt. Sunday Osanyintuyi told the court that the first accused (Fakilede) committed the offences at 5.00 p.m. at Eleyele area of Ile-Ife on December 2, 2017.

He said the complainant reported the incident at `A’ Divisional Police Headquarters, Moore, Ile-Ife on December 8, 2017.

According to Osanyintuyi, the first accused entered the house of a lawyer, Mrs Roseline Oke, and stole her Infinix Hot 5 android phone valued at N36,000.

He said Adekunle (second accused) received the stolen phone from Fakilede.

The offences contravened Sections 383, 390 (9), 413 and 427 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2002.

The case was adjourned until January 24 for ruling on the bail application.
