First Kwara military governor, David Bamigboye, dies at 78

The first military governor of Kwara, Brig Gen David Bamigboye (Retd), has died at the age of 78.

His younger brother to the deceased, Col. Theophilus Bamigboye (Retd), confirmed the death to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday on the telephone.

He said the late military governor died on Friday during a brief illness in Lagos.

Brig Gen Bamigboye was born on December 7, 1940.

He was military governor of Kwara from May 1967 to July 1975 after the state was created from the old Northern Region.

He is credited with establishing the Kwara State Polytechnic in 1972.
