#FindHinnyHumoren: Missing Akwa Ibom job seeker ‘found dead’

A young woman Iniubong Umoren, who has been missing since April 29 during a job-hunt in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, has been reportedly found dead.

Her friend Uduak Umoh who brought the public’s attention to the situation said on Sunday in a tweet that “they raped and killed my friend”.

In another tweet, Umoh accused the police of withholding her corpse.

“@PoliceNG in charge of the case at ikot Akpan abia is asking everyone to go home without giving us her corpse. That they will tell the brother to come later. What on earth is going on @PoliceNG,” Umoh wrote.

Umoren’s disappearance days ago prompted friends to create awareness in search of her through the hashtag #FindHinnyHumoren.

Umoren went missing after she went for a meeting with a yet-to-be-identified person who promised her a job through Twitter chat.

Umoren had requested for a job in a tweet. She wrote: “#AkwaIbomTwitter please I’m really in need of a job, something to do to keep mind and soul together while contributing dutifully to the organisation. My location is Uyo, I’m creative, really good in thinking critically and most importantly vast learner. CV available on request.”

Umoh said the last time he heard from Umoren, a graduate of the University of Uyo, she was screaming for help on the phone.

“She sent me a 1sec audio record on WhatsApp and I had to call her back to know if she wanted to say something to me but immediately, I called her I heard her screaming,” he tweeted.

Two persons have been arrested over the incident, according to the police.

Nigerians have taken to Twitter to mourn Umoren.
