Fayose accuses EFCC of aiding ex-NIA DG to travel abroad

Ekiti Governor Ayodele Fayose

Former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has accused the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) of aiding the former Director-General, National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Ayo Oke and his wife, Folashade, to travel out of the country.

Mr Oke and his wife are being accused by the EFCC of concealing crime proceeds totaling $205 million. A Federal High Court in Lagos on Thursday ordered their arrest.

There are reports that the couple had long left the country before the EFCC filed the suit.

However, Mr Fayose accused the anti-graft agency on Thursday on Twitter of trying to aiding former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, who has also been listed for trial, out of the country.

“I have two questions for @officialEFCC, this govt said it was ready to try the former SGF, Babachir Lawal, are they waiting to aid him to travel abroad too?

“If they claimed Ex-NIA boss, Oke and his wife escaped abroad, has the former SGF escaped too?” he wrote.

Fayose is also facing trial of over N6.9 billion alleged fraud.
