Fayemi appoints new vice-chancellor for EKSU

Ekiti State Governor, Kayode Fayemi, has approved the appointment of a new vice-chancellor of Ekiti State University (EKSU), Ado Ekiti, Prof. Edward Olanipekun.

Olanipekun, a professor of Chemistry, is a former Dean of the School of Post Graduate Studies of EKSU.

According to a statement on Tuesday by Fayemi’s chief press secretary, Yinka Oyebode, the appointment takes immediate effect.

Olanipekun, a native of Ado Ekiti metropolis, was the former chairman, Ilorin zone of Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).

Olanipekun is to replace Prof Olubunmi Ajayi who has been in acting capacity since January.

Fayemi had sacked the former VC, Professor Sam Bandele, following the recommendation of a visitation panel sent led by former Vice-Chancellor of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife, Prof. Bamitale Omole.

Bandele was appointed on December 3, 2015, by former Governor Ayodele Fayose to succeed Professor Dipo Aina.
