Michael Edeh, father to the two children and their dog found dead in a freezer at Igbogbo-Baiyeku area of Ikorodu, has been transferred to the Central Investigation Department (CID) Panti, Yaba.

Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Chike Oti, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday that Edeh, who is now a suspect, was transferred to CID for further interrogation to ascertain the real cause of the children’s death.

“I have confirmed the matter and the CP directed that the father of the deceased be brought to notice to know his ulterior motive or whether it is an act of negligence,” Mr Oti said.

NAN reports that the incident happened on Sunday, November 11.

The suspect’s residence was found under lock and key and the flat was empty and deserted.

One of the neighbours, who did not want his name mentioned, said: “it is only God that can determine the root causes of the death of the children.

“How can the children die in such a manner and their father was inside the house sleeping?

“I think it is beyond human imagination, the only thing that could be done is autopsy to educate them on the real cause of the children’s death,” he said.

Another neighbour, Kamoru Adewale, told NAN that “since the matter has been handed over to the police everything would be done to unravel the mystery behind the death of the children.”

All efforts to get a community leader to react to the incident proved abortive.
