Fani-Kayode knocks 32-year-old Zamfara deputy gov for refusing to defect to APC

Former aviation minister Femi Fani-Kayode on Tuesday criticised Zamfara State Deputy Governor Mahdi Gusau for refusing to defect to the All Progressives Congress with his principal Governor Bello Matawalle.

Mr Matawalle left the Peoples Democratic Party for the APC in June. But his 32-year-old deputy has refused to switch party.

Mr Fani-Kayode, who was in the company of Matawalle throughout the wedding Fatiha of President Muhammadu Buhari’s son Yusuf last week in Kano, took to Twitter to accuse Gusau of undermining his principal.

“When a Governor decamps from one party to another shouldn’t his Deputy go with him? Is that not what loyalty is all about? Against his better judgement @Bellomatawalle1 picked you as his running mate & made you Deputy Governor & now you undermine & betray him? Shame on you!” he wrote.

Gusau is one of the youngest deputy governors to be elected at his age since the Fourth Republic. He is a son to General Aliyu Gusau (retd.) a former minister of defence.
