Atiku meets famous Islamic scholar Mufti Menk in Abuja

Popular Islamic scholar Mufti Menk has met the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Atiku Abubakar during his visit to Abuja.

Menk joined the former Vice President and others for the Jumu’ah prayer on Friday, December 2 in the federal capital.

Atiku said in a post on social media that he was pleased with his meeting with Menk.

“I’m pleased at the interaction with @muftimenkofficial, an acknowledged Islamic preacher, after the Jumu’ah prayer earlier today. I pray that the Almighty Allah will continue to enrich your knowledge even as I wish you a successful visit in Abuja,” said Atiku.

Menk also met Africa’s richest man Aliko Dangote in Abuja. The Zimbabwe-born scholar posted a photo of himself and Dangote on social media with the caption, “What a brother!”

Menk, whose real name is Ismail ibn Musa Menk, is the head of the Fatwa department of The Council of Islamic Scholars of Zimbabwe.

In November 2018, Menk, who is one of the most influential Muslim leaders in the world, met President Muhammadu Buhari and presented him with his book Motivational Moments.

Writing in a Facebook post, the 47-year-old said “I had the pleasure of meeting one of the most humble and sincere world leaders, Muhammadu Buhari and presented him with my book, Motivational Moments. May the Almighty bless him and his beautiful country. Aameen.”

In December 2019, he met First Lady Aisha Buhari at the State House, Abuja during his visit for the fifth annual peace and unity convention.

“It was a pleasure and honor to receive renowned Muslim cleric and one of the most influential Muslim leaders in the world, Mufti Ismael Menk and his team at the state house. I wish him a safe trip back home,” Mrs Buhari wrote about the visit on social media.

Speaking after a visit to Nigeria in 2020, Menk described the country as one of the best places he has ever been to.

He was also in Kebbi in 2021 and 2022 for the 5th and 6th Kebbi Women’s Ramadan Lecture respectively.
