Publisher of Ovation magazine and politician Dele Momodu has shared a campaign-style poster on social media portraying himself as the running mate to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

Mr Momodu posted the image on his Facebook page on Monday and accompanied it with a message calling for national reconciliation, reorientation and reconstruction.

Although Mr Atiku has not announced a running mate, the poster sparked reactions online as it presented Momodu as his vice-presidential candidate.

In his post, Momodu predicted that the 2027 presidential election would likely be a contest between President Bola Tinubu and Atiku.

“It promises to be the battle of the Titans. A third force, hopefully, may show up, like it did in 2023, but not with enough fire power and tenacity to upstage, and obliterate, the two elder statesmen,” he wrote.

Momodu urged the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to adopt what he described as a new political approach by bridging the gap between older and younger leaders as well as between politicians and technocrats.

He said such a strategy could help promote national unity and address political and social challenges in the country.

The former presidential aspirant also called for stronger cooperation between the North and the South.

“There’s no better combination than this duo, assuring of a colourful blend. The North and the South will reunite in a game of ethnic and religious rivalries,” he wrote.

Dele Momodu further urged political leaders to return to issue-based politics and draw lessons from the legacies of Nigeria’s founding leaders, including Nnamdi Azikiwe, Ahmadu Bello and Obafemi Awolowo.

Atiku, who recently emerged as the ADC’s presidential candidate for the 2027 election, has yet to name a running mate.
