Family announces burial plans for Christian Chukwu

The burial of former captain and head coach of the Super Eagle Christian Chukwu has been fixed for Friday, August 22.

His family made the announcement on Monday in Enugu, where they confirmed that plans are already in motion for a befitting national burial to honour the late icon.

“Plans are already underway for a befitting national burial to honor the late football icon,” the family said in a statement.

In addition to the ceremony in Enugu, the family revealed that a special event would hold in Lagos, acknowledging the city’s role in Chukwu’s illustrious football career.

“There will be a special event in Lagos, where Chukwu spent much of his career with the national football team,” they stated.

“This event will provide an opportunity for his fans and friends who are unable to travel to Enugu to celebrate the football hero’s life and legacy.”

Chukwu died on Saturday, April 12, at the age of 74. His death drew widespread tributes from across the football community and beyond.
