Ex-Super Eagles spokesman Benjamin Alaiya dies at 52

Former media officer of the Super Eagles Benjamin Alaiya has passed on at the age of 52.

His death was announced on Wednesday on the official page of the Super Eagles.

“We are sad to announce the sudden passing of our former Media Officer, Mr Benjamin Alaiya. May his soul Rest In Peace and our thoughts are with his family,” the statement read.

Mr Alaiya held the position between 2011 and 2015 before he was replaced by Toyin Ibitoye.

Born in Ososo, Edo State on December 9, 1968, he was former sport editor of Daily Independent and publisher of SportDay.

He bagged a bachelor’s degree in English Language from the University of Lagos, and also earned a postgraduate diploma in Mass Communication from the Nigeria Institute of Journalism (NIJ).
