Elumelu’s wife sets new personal best record at 2024 London Marathon

Awele Elumelu, wife of businessman Tony Elumelu, has completed the 2024 London Marathon.

The race held on Sunday had a record number of over 50,000 participants in the 42km race.

In an Instagram post on Monday, Mr Elumelu congratulated his wife, who has a penchant for athletics, on completing her fourth city marathon, adding that she also got her personal best record in the race.

“Congratulations #MrsTOE on your fourth city marathon, and a new personal best record! You inspire!” the philanthropist wrote, without revealing his wife’s race time.

Kenya’s Peres Jepchirchir ran the fastest time in the women’s category. Olympic champion Jepchirchir finished in 2 hours, 16 minutes and 16 seconds.

The men’s race was won by Kenyan Alexander Munyao, ahead of 41-year-old track great Kenenisa Bekele. British runners Emile Cairess and Mahamed Mahamed came third and fourth respectively.
