Hadiza El-Rufai, wife of Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has requested from the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, to ride free of charge or with a discount when the trains start running again.
Mrs El-Rufai made the request on Sunday via a tweet as she clocked 60.
She wrote: “Dear Sir, @ChibuikeAmaechi Now that I’m officially a senior citizen, when the trains start running again, can I ride for free?
“No? OK. Can I at least have a senior citizens’ discount?”
The first lady’s request was in reaction to an announcement on Saturday by the minister.
“We’re not in a hurry to start train operations because of the danger of COVID-19 spread. When we start, all health and safety protocols must apply. You will not enter a train if you don’t adhere to our rules. The train will not move if passengers do not comply,” Amaechi had said.
