Police rescue 147 from another Kaduna Islamic centre

Police in Kaduna State have uncovered an illegal Islamic rehabilitation centre in Rigasa, Igabi Local Government Area of the state.

About 147 victims, some of them in chains, were rescued from the illegal facility known as Malam Niga’s Rehabilitation Centre.

Four foreigners and 22 females were part of those rescued.

Kaduna police spokesman, Yakubu Sabo, confirmed the raid in a press statement issued on Saturday.

Governor Nasir El-Rufai was present during the raid, Mr Sabo disclosed.

The owner of the rehab centre was arrested while the victims were evacuated to the Hajj Camp in Mando area of the state for further profiling and medical attention.

“Following this discovery, the governor directed that all the inmates be evacuated to Hajj Camp located at Mando Kaduna for proper profiling and safe custody.

“Similarly, the Police have arrested one Dr Lawal Muduru, also known as Malam Niga, the owner of the Centre to investigate him on the said allegations. 

“He is currently helping with investigation at the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department of the Command.“The Command is also investigating the authenticity and validity of the registration document the suspect claimed to possess,” Sabo said.

Police in Kaduna last month uncovered an Islamic school where 300 boys were found chained.
