No less than nine persons – eight policemen and one other – were reportedly killed during a robbery attack on Thursday at the Isanlu branch of an old generation bank in Kogi State.

It was gathered that some policemen were killed in the police station while one other lost his life at the bank’s premises.

The victims who were killed at the police station include the Divisional Police Officer in the town, four other policemen and two policewomen.

One policeman was killed at the bank’s premises.

The other victim died after he was hit by a stray bullet.

The armed robbers were said to have invaded the police station about 1.00 p.m. and opened fire on all officers and men on duty.

They also set free all detainees in the detention facility.

The robbers then proceeded to the bank where they killed one of the policemen on duty and carted away money.

The amount they made away with is not yet known.

Kogi police spokesman, William Ayah, said the command was yet to ascertain the number of casualties.
