EFCC has not accused us of any wrongdoing — MTN

MTN

MTN Nigeria has said the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has not accused it of any offence as wrongly insinuated in reports.

In a statement on Saturday by the company’s secretary, Uto Ukpanah, the telecommunications giant said it received a letter on Thursday from EFCC requesting information and documentation related to its recent listing on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE).

“MTN Nigeria has not been accused of any wrongdoing by the EFCC,” it said.

MTN also said it received all regulatory approvals required to list its shares on the NSE as publicly announced by NSE and the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

“As a law abiding and responsible corporate citizen, we are co-operating fully with the authorities. We are committed to good governance and to abiding by the extant laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” the statement said.
