EFCC called me not to delete Instagram pictures after Hushpuppi’s arrest – Mompha

Ismaila Mustapha Mompha

Instagram celebrity Ismaila Mustapha aka Mompha has alleged that someone from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) called him after another Instagram sensation Ramon Abbas aka Hushpuppi was arrested last year in Dubai, UAE.

Speaking on an Instagram live session with Daddy Freeze, Mompha also said that after Hushpuppi’s arrest, people accused him of being responsible for it and that the agent that facilitated his (Hushpuppi’s) UAE visa was mortified at the turn of events.

Speaking in Pidgin English, he said, “The day dem carry Hushpuppi, I got lots of calls, with people saying, ‘Baba, see wetin you cause; na you make dem carry this guy; na you e dey compete with.’”

Mompha disclosed that, because of the pressure, he pulled down certain photographs from his Instagram handle but that  “EFCC called me direct to post my pictures back.” He did not state who called him from the anti-graft agency.

“Na EFCC called me direct to post my pictures back because it will be as if, maybe I dey involved,” he said.

Mompha further said he was instrumental in bringing Hushpuppi from Malaysia to the UAE, adding that the latter was stubborn and would not listen to advise.

Hushpuppi has pleaded guilty to charges of fraud in the United States and risks 20 years imprisonment.

Mompha has had his own brush with the law following his arrest in 2019 by the EFCC.

After being released on bail, he was re-arrested by the anti-graft agency in Lagos when he went to the EFCC office to reclaim his luxury possessions.
