Economy: Plateau LG proposes N3.4bn budget for 2015

The Kanke Local Government of Plateau on Monday presented a budget proposal of N3.4 billion before its legislative arm for services in the 2015 fiscal year.

Mr John Gotau, the council’s Chairman, while presenting the budget for consideration, described it as “realistic, being a budget of consolidation’’.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that N2.2 billion was earmarked for recurrent expenditure, while N1.2 billion was set aside for the capital projects.

Gotau explained that the budget estimate would be funded by Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), cash at hand and the Federal Statutory Allocations.

The chairman said when passed into law, the budget would ensure that all ongoing projects were completed before embarking on new ones.

“It is the resolve of this council to continue to execute people oriented projects and we will not disappoint the electorate that gave us the mandate to serve them.

“ This year’s budget will consolidate on the successes recorded by the administration in the last one year,’’ he said.

He commended the Gov. Jonah Jang led administration for the support the council received since its inception in March 2014.

Gotau pledged to support the in-coming APC led government of Mr Simon Lalong to achieve its programmes for the citizens of the state.

Receiving the budget, Ishaku Gida, Leader of the legislative arm, pledged to give it a “forensic look’’ for its speedy passage.
