DSS, police on standby as youths protest Akeredolu’s absence

Rotimi Akeredolu

Several young persons on Monday protested the absence of Ondo State Governor Rotimi Akeredolu at the state secretariat of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Akure, the capital.

The convergence of the protesters forced operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) and the police to be on standby.

The protest was held within the premises of the PDP secretariat while being barricaded by the security operatives.

Publicity secretary of the PDP in Ondo State Kennedy Peretei alleged that the security operatives did not allow other youths who wanted to join the protest to enter the secretariat premises.

Court stops impeachment of Akeredolu’s deputy Aiyedatiwa

Akeredolu returns after medical treatment in Germany

Akeredolu returned to Nigeria in September months after being away on medical leave.

Since his return, he is yet to resume his duties as governor fully.

There have also been moves by the Ondo State House of Assembly to impeach his deputy Lucky Aiyedatiwa.

But a Federal High Court in Abuja on September 26 ordered the assembly to halt impeachment proceedings against Aiyedatiwa.
