The Department of State Services (DSS) has confirmed it conducted a search operation at TradeMoore Estate in Abuja.

The search was conducted in the estate located in the Lugbe area of Abuja on Monday.

According to reports, two suspected terrorists were arrested during the operation.

The DSS conducted the search following travel advisory by the US and the UK authorities advising their citizens to avoid Abuja due to fear of terrorist attack.

Many other foreign missions have issued similar advisories since the US first issued the advisory on Sunday.

The chairman of the residents association at the estate had said the operation was conducted alongside US forces.

But DSS spokesman Peter Afunanya denied that the operation was conducted in partnership with American soldiers.

“I can categorically tell you that we did not carry out any joint operation with American Soldiers as being widely reported in the media,” Afunanya told PRNigeria.

“Though we carried out an operation in an Abuja Estate with sister agencies, no foreign troops were involved.”

Afunanya did not give the number of suspects arrested as well as their identities.
