Di’Ja campaigns against laws stipulating arrest of suicide attempters

Mavin Records singer, Di’Ja, has called for laws that mandate the arrest of suicide attempters to be amended.

The singer, born Hadiza Blell, said this in an Instagram post on Monday.

“I agree on the notion that this law should be amended. I find it very confusing that we arrest people in vulnerable states of mental deterioration instead of working to help them re-adjust back into society. The over crowded jails pointed out by many of our colleagues as well as my visit to the female prison with @i_rabbi shows we have no regard for human rehabilitation. We literally just dump people and keep moving. Grateful to anyone that stands up for a cause bigger than themselves,” she wrote.

Signed onto Mavin on February 14, 2014, Di’Ja scored her first hit with ‘Dorobucci’ released in May of that year.

The song features label mates Don Jazzy, Dr SID, Tiwa Savage, D’Prince, Korede Bello and Reekado Banks.

She got married to a man simply identified as Rotimi on December 10, 2015 and gave birth to a boy in 2016.

The singer announced was delivered of her second child in March 2018.
