D’banj missing as MTN announces brand ambassadors

D'banj

Mobile company, MTN, announced its brand ambassadors for 2016/2017 on Thursday with some big names in Nigerian entertainment missing.

Pop musician, D’banj, who recently announced the launch of his CREAM initiative on the MTN platform, was not on the list.

Some fans of the former Glo ambassador erroneously concluded that the new deal with MTN automatically qualified him as a brand representative, but the company has since denied that as exclusively reported by QED.

The non-inclusion of the ‘Oliver Twist’ singer ends any lingering speculation about an ambassadorship deal with the South African firm.

Also missing on the ambassadors list are D’banj’s former partner, Don Jazzy; Mavin leading lady, Tiwa Savage, and Davido.

Music ambassadors for 2016/2017 are Praiz, Iyanya, Chidinma, Falz, Tekno Miles and Skales.

Four other ambassadors are Hafiz Oyetoro, Nedu, Nkem Owoh and Adamu Zango.

“MTN remains proud to be associated with the growth and development of the careers of all our ambassadors, past and present,” the company’s executive, Amina Oyagbola, said,

For the likes of Don Jazzy and Tiwa, she said “We specially thank all our former ambassadors for their immense contributions to building our brand and making us the network of choice in Nigeria.

“We will definitely continue to maintain the strong and mutually beneficial relationship with them through the monetisation of their content on all our digital platforms – MTN Music+, CRBT and VAS.”
