Pop singer, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has responded to an allegation of assault by a journalist.

The journalist, who did not reveal his name, posted a video on social media on Friday, in which he alleges that Davido, 27, assaulted him on February 14 at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos.

It included a short clip which appears to show Davido hit the reporter on the chest.

“On the 14th of February, 2020 at the Murtala Muhammad International Airport for Ikeja…I walked up to him to take a selfie, to my uttermost surprise, Davido just hit me on my chest…,” he said.

Davido, however, took to the comments’ section of the video reposted by blogger, Instablog9ja, to clear the air, saying he was only trying to hug him.

“I was trynna hug u bro but U moved fast so it looked like I was slapping your chest…love you bro,” the singer said on Friday.

Davido has faced similar allegations in the past. In July 2018, another journalist, Adekambi Damilola, alleged he was punched in the face by Davido’s security guard.

The ‘Fall’ singer was also accused of assaulting a photographer, Kenny Egbuke, in The Gambia in December 2018.
