Senate President Godswill Akpabio has warmly received Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, during a courtesy visit on Thursday in Abuja.

Davido was accompanied by nightlife entrepreneur and celebrity barman Pascal Okechukwu, famously known as Cubana Chief Priest.

Cubana Chiefpriest shared a video of the encounter on his Instagram page on Friday that quickly gained traction online.

The footage captured Mr Akpabio engaging with Davido and his team while holding an important document, followed by a photo session with the singer and Cubana Chief Priest.

Cubana Chief Priest captioned, “Try as much as possible to get close to people who look exactly like your future. Abuja nights with Naija 003. Person wey get OBO too get power.”

In a related development, Akpabio is currently involved in a legal battle with Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.

The federal government recently filed criminal defamation charges against Akpoti-Uduaghan after she alleged on television that Akpabio and former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello plotted to assassinate her.

Akpabio and Bello have been listed as witnesses in the case, which awaits assignment to a judge and a trial date. The charges hinge on sections of the Penal Code concerning reputation-damaging imputations.

Akpoti-Uduaghan’s accusation of sexual harassment against Akpabio led to her suspension from the Senate, a move condemned by women’s rights groups as an effort to silence her and a reflection of deeper gender inequality issues in Nigerian politics.

As the case proceeds, it continues to draw national attention.
