Datti Baba-Ahmed’s Baze University VC Tahir Mamman makes Tinubu’s ministerial list

Vice-chancellor of Baze University Professor Tahir Mamman has been named in the latest ministerial nominees’ list released by President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday.

The university was founded by the vice-presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 poll Datti Baba-Ahmed.

Mamman was the director-general of the Nigerian Law School for eight years (2005 – 2013).

He was born in 1954 at Michika in Adamawa State. He holds a LL.B degree at the Ahmadu Bello University in 1983 and was called to bar in 1984. He earned his masters from the University of Warwick England in 1987 and his PhD in 1990 University of Warwick, Warwickshire England.

He is also a member of the governing board of Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).

In 2010, he became a board member of the International Association of Law Schools based in Washington DC.

In September 2015, he was conferred as a senior advocate of Nigeria (SAN). In recognition of his efforts, the Federal Government of Nigeria gave him the national honour of Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON).

Mamman joined party politics in 2014 after completing his tenure as DG of the Nigeria Law School. He ran for Adamawa State governorship election on the platform of the APC in December 2014 along with three other aspirants.

In June 2020, the APC national executive committee appointed and inaugurated him as a member representing the northeast geopolitical zone/ acting national vice chairman, north east in the national caretaker/extraordinary convention planning committee.
