Abidoye, also known as Baba Aladura, was born on June 26, 1920 as a prince at Omu Aran, Irepodun Local Government of Kwara State.

In 1936, he was baptised. That same year, Prophet Ayo Babalola, founder of the Christ Apostolic Church, visited Omu-Aran area of Kwara in the rainy season and it was raining heavily. Babalola reportedly prayed and the rain stopped. This was said to have confounded the teachers who then decided to allow pupils to choose whatever denomination they wanted to belong to. That was how Abidoye opted to become a member of the C&S Church.
