A Federal High Court in Edo State has restrained the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its national chairman, Adams Oshiomhole, from conducting any form of governorship primaries in the state.

Justice M. G. Umar gave the order on Monday, ruling that status quo should be maintained pending the determination of the suit filed by Kenneth Asekomhe and Matthew Iduoriyekemwen.

Listed as respondents in the suit are Mr Oshiomhole, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the Inspector General of Police (IGP).

The APC national leadership had scheduled to hold a direct primary on June 22 ahead of the governorship election in September.

Justice Umar, however, granted the order restraining the conduct of any mode of primary until the determination of the suit fixed for June 11.
