Court acquits nurse accused of masterminding Isiaka Adeleke’s death

Isiaka Adeleke former Osun State governor

An Osun State High Court sitting in Osogbo on Thursday discharged and acquitted Alfred Aderibigbe who was a personal nurse to the late former Osun State governor Isiaka Adeleke.

Mr Aderibigbe was accused of killing the politician. He was first arraigned before the court on June 8, 2018. The nurse pleaded not guilty to murder charge pressed against him.

A coroner inquest indicted him of administering drug overdose on the deceased.

During the trial, Aderibigbe told the court that the drugs he administered were given to him by the deceased.

The prosecution had said the alleged offence was contrary to section 316 and punishable under section 319 of the Criminal Code Law Cap.36 Law of Osun State 2003.

However, Justice Ayo Oyebiyi, in his judgement, ruled that the prosecution could not prove that Aderibigbe killed the deceased and subsequently discharged him of any wrongdoing.
