The management of the University of Benin (UNIBEN) has suspended the resumption for the staff members and students until further notice due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The varsity’s spokesman, Dr Benedicta Ehanire, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday.

“…In line with the position of the Federal Ministry of Education that no date has been fixed for the reopening of schools, UNIBEN has extended resumption until further notice,” the statement read.

“However, members of staff are to keep working from home.

“It is important to point out that staff on essential duties, including health care, security, fire service and utilities (electricity and water) are to continue to make the necessary sacrifices while observing all the safety rules.”

Ehanire advised the general public to obey the directive of the Federal Government by practising social distancing.
