Chairman of the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) Danladi Umar has been caught on camera assaulting a security guard at Banex Plaza in Wuse, Abuja.

Umar is seen in the video kicking the guard before being restrained by the crowd including his security details.

He was then forced into his vehicle.

Eyewitnesses say the guard had reached out to the CCT chairman to park his car properly at the plaza before the assault.

“The CCT chairman was on the verge of further hitting the young security guard with a dangerous object taken from his car, when passersby and tenants at Banex plaza, intervened and stopped him from further assaulting and violently attacking the young security guard,” an eyewitness was quoted as saying by Sahara Reporters.

According to the video, the crowd at the plaza became irritated and attacked the CCT chairman in return by breaking his car’s windscreen.

The guard was reportedly taken into custody following a complaint by Umar at the Maitama Police Station under the Federal Capital Territory Police Command.

It was gathered that a lawyer Ihensekhien Samuel secured the release of the guard on bail.

Umar, in 2019, presided over the false assets declaration suit by the Federal Government against the then chief justice of Nigeria Walter Onnoghen.
