Chimaroke Nnamani loses Senate seat to brother of murdered LP candidate Oyibo Chukwu

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the Labour Party’s candidate for Enugu East Senatorial District Kelvin Chukwu as winner of the election.

Chukwu’s victory means the incumbent Senator Chimaroke Nnamani who was expelled from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will not be returning to the Senate.

The LP’s candidate polled 69, 136 votes while Nnamani got 48, 701 votes.

Chukwu replaced his brother Oyibo Chukwu as the party’s candidate after the latter was murdered days before the February 25 polls.
