Chimamanda shares video of Lagos book launch, asks Nigerians to read more

Renowned writer Chimamanda Adichie has shared a video of the Lagos launch of her book Mama’s Sleeping Scarf on social media.

The book written for children was presented at an event tagged Christmas Magic on December 29.

Sharing a video of the launch on Instagram on Sunday, the 46-year-old called on Nigerians to read more in 2024.

“What a joyful day, the Lagos launch of ‘Mama’s Sleeping Scarf.’ May we all read more in 2024!” She wrote.

Among those present at the event were ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo, former presidential candidate Peter Obi, Datti Baba-Ahmed, Prof Hakeem Bello-Osagie, Oby Ezekwesili, daughter of billionaire Mike Adenuga, Bella Disu; Ndidi Nwuneli, and Chimamanda’s husband, Ivara Esege.

Speakers at the event called on young people to read more, noting that readers are leaders.

Chimamanda has written several best-sellers such as Purple Hibiscus, Americanah, and Half Of A Yellow Sun.
