Chidi Okeke to launch music streaming site, uduX

Chidi Okeke

Entertainment and technology investor, Chidi Okeke, has concluded plans on launching a music streaming platform, uduX.

Chidi is the founder of Mcomm Solutions and Services, a technology driven company offering a wide range of content, mobile technology and music-based solutions and services across the African.

The name, uduX, is derived from a musical instrument played in Nigeria called udu.

The FUTO graduate says the site would bring to an end the challenges of piracy, revenue sharing formula for artistes, owners of platforms, investors and listeners.

uduX will primarily promote local content, however, it will compete internationally as a music content aggregator.

The site will charge subscribers a premium to access online any song of their choice.

Locations of listeners will be tracked by the site, including mined data of what they listen to. Users will be able to create a playlist of different genres of music based on their preferences.

The site has clear monetisation allocation to all stakeholders who put their music on the platform.  It also captures the trend of 2019 that people will continue to sing because they want to make a living through music.

According to Chidi, work began on the site in 2016, with lack of structure in Nigeria’s music industry posing the major problem which the site hopes to address.

Chidi studied Electrical and Electronics Engineering at the Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO).

On graduation, he joined MTech, a company that provided services to GSM companies when mobile phones initially stormed the Nigerian market.

At MTech, he was brought in to join the networking department, he, however, moved from there to the business development unit and took an interest in music which became his focus.

Chidi’s career advanced within the company leading to high profile assignments such as the setup of the Abuja office to expand local operations. He then grew to assume international responsibilities in Cote d’Ivoire and Ghana.

Within 8 months, MTech became the number 1 VAAS provider in Ghana. After this, he came back to Nigeria to lead the MTech Group as Group CEO. During his time as Group CEO, Chidi successfully implemented turnkey solutions that allowed MTech to grow while focusing on the music industry.
