Bumbling Giwa’s NFF appoints dead man to officiate NPFL match

Chris Giwa

Disgruntled faction of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) led by Chris Giwa on Wednesday made an inexplicable error when they appointed a dead referee to officiate a Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) match.

Giwa obtained a Federal High Court order to replace Amaju Pinnick as president of the NFF – but has received stern criticism from football followers.

The recent howler from his so called board to appoint a dead ref will even make his course even more futile

In a letter sent to the League Management Company (LMC), the faction appointed late Wale Akinsanya (Oyo) to take charge of the Warri Wolves, Giwa FC clash in Warri this weekend.

The letter dated April 20, 2016 read: “Please find attached the list of officiating officials that included (sic) the referee and match commissioners for your urgent and necessary action.

“Thanks for the usual cooperation.”

Akinsanya is to be assisted by Tope O. (Osun) and Adeleke M, while Peter Efozia (Delta) is to serve as reserve referee.

LMC image maker, Harry Iwuala, however, pointed out that referee appointed for the Warri Wolves, Giwa game died January 22 this year during a FIFA Cooper test in Ibadan.

“See for yourself, the appointment of late Wale Akinsanya by the Giwa NFF for the match between Warri Wolves and Giwa FC in Warri,” Iwuala wrote.
