Actress Bukky Wright has expressed joy over her nomination for Best Supporting Actress at the Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) 2025 for her role in Red Circle.
She took to Instagram on Sunday to share nomination posters, photos of herself and moments from the movie set while reflecting on her return to Nollywood after years away from the screen.
Bukky wrote, “We’re back! My heart is so full. After some time away from the screen, stepping back into storytelling feels like rediscovering a piece of myself I truly missed. To be nominated as Best Supporting Actress for this film is beyond humbling.
“To everyone who believed in me, supported me, and welcomed me back with so much love – thank you from the depth of my heart. Your support means more than words can say. I also want to say congratulations @noraawolowo. You deserve your flowers for the effort and hard work you put in! Thank you for choosing me.
“This is for every dream that took a pause but never died.”
Red Circle, directed by Akay Mason and produced by Nora Awolowo, also received nominations for Best Nigerian Film, Best Production Design (Chris Udomi) and Best Screenplay (Abdul Tijani Ahmed).
The 58-year-old took a long break from Nollywood after relocating to the United States, where she explored other careers, including information technology and cybersecurity.
Bukky made her full return to acting in 2024, starring in Red Circle and Something About the Briggs. In a recent interview, she described her comeback as a thrilling experience, saying it felt good to reunite with old colleagues after many years.
The Iwalewa star, who has featured in classics such as Saworoide and Omotara Johnson, said she is now back in Nollywood to stay.
