Buhari’s in-law Mohammed Indimi bags honorary doctorate at UNILAG

Maiduguri-based billionaire Mohammed Indimi has bagged a honorary doctor of science degree at the University of Lagos (UNILAG).

Mr Indimi, who is the founder and chairman of Oriental Energy Resources (OER), a privately-held oil exploration and production company, was honoured at the varsity’s ongoing convocation ceremony.

Indimi is an in-law of President Muhammadu Buhari. His son Ahmed Indimi is married to Buhari’s daughter Zahra.

Ahmed, who accompanied his father to the occasion, shared a photo on Instagram on Thursday, congratulating him.

“Congratulations baba as you are awarded with the degree of Doctor of Science (D.Sc) Honoris Causa of the University of Lagos,” he wrote.

Indimi’s daughter Yakolo revealed also in an Instagram post that it was the philanthropist’s seventh doctorate degree.

“Congratulations on your 7th Doctorate degree to my Hero, my dad. Always making us proud. Alhamdullilah ya Rabb #universityoflagos,” she wrote.

In April, Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum named Indimi chairman and pro-chancellor of the newly-established Borno State University in Maiduguri.
