Buhari’s former aide Bashir Ahmad returns to China for study

Bashir Ahmad

Former President Muhammadu Buhari’s ex-special assistant on digital communications Bashir Ahmad on Wednesday said he had returned to China to continue his studies.

Mr Ahmad shared photos of himself at Peking University in Beijing where he is to continue his studies.

“Alhamdulillah!! Returned to Peking University @PKU1898, Beijing, after the inauguration of President Tinubu, to continue with my Dongfang Program 2023 Spring on Governance,” he said.

Ahmad has been heavily criticised on social media following his statement on Tuesday that contrary to public opinion the launch of Nigeria Air was not a fraud.

Ex-minister of aviation Hadi Sirika controversially launched the airline towards the end of the Buhari administration despite court ruling stopping further action on it by all the parties involved.

Insisting that the Nigeria Air project was not a fraud, Ahmad said that all necessary documents required to power the airline have been signed by the aviation ministry and operational offices opened.

His tweet came after the House of Representatives Committee on Aviation described the project as a fraud. The committee also charged the Federal Government to suspend the airline.
