Buhari’s aide attacks newspaper for claiming Gbajabiamila snubbed Jibrin

Tolu Ogunlesi, social media aide of President Muhammadu Buhari, has knocked the Guardian newspaper for claiming that the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, shunned Abdulmumin Jibrin in his selection of heads of House committees.

Jibrin is the former Director-General of Femi Gbajabiamila Campaign Organisation.

Mr Gbajabiamila had on Thursday announced the leadership of the 109 house standing committees, surprisingly leaving out Jibrin who played a huge role in his emergence as speaker.

The Guardian newspaper headline for the report read: ‘Gbajabiamila creates 105 committees, compensates key allies, dumps Jibrin’.

Mr Ogunlesi attacked the newspaper on Friday, saying it was wrong to deduce that Jibrin was ‘dumped’.

“Disturbing ‘journalism’ from @GuardianNigeria. What’s w obsession for jumping to baseless conclusions? No evidence in story they tried to reach @AbdulAbmJ or @femigbaja before declaring ‘Gbaja dumps Jibrin’ Story carries no reference to Jibrin’s tweet. This is not Journalism!

“These things are not that hard, really. And these lapses are not acceptable from Nigeria’s leading papers. The blogs can probably get away with any rubbish they want – not the Guardian!” Ogunlesi said.
