President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday returned to Twitter more than three months after lifting the suspension of the platform in Nigeria.

Buhari tweeted his message to the country in celebration of Eid Mubarak. The bulk of his message centred on security.

The president also posted pictures of himself receiving guests at Aso Rock for Sallah two years after such visits were stopped due to COVID-19 pandemic.

Buhari assured that his administration would continue to go hard on members of the Indigenous People of Biafra and Eastern Security Network.

On his efforts at rescuing those abducted during the recent attack on a train from Abuja to Kaduna, he said, “Rescuing the abducted victims is a delicate situation that requires wisdom, caution and also patience. Any rescue operation that results in the death of any hostage cannot be deemed a success. The government doesn’t want this kind of tragic outcome.”

Buhari announced the suspension of Twitter’s operations on June 4, 2021 after his tweet was deleted by the platform for violating its policy.

The suspension was lifted on January 13, 2022.
