Buhari receives Igbo group, attacks PDP

Muhammadu Buhari meets Igbo group

President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday received an Igbo group from the southeast region of Nigeria.

The group, which operates under the aegis of One on One Nigeria, was received by the president and key members of his cabinet at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The group’s spokesman, Chief Chido Obidiegwu, while commending the developmental strides of the president, said they have keenly observed the efforts of the Buhari administration nationwide, particularly in the south-east region, and will pay him back at the ballot.

“We have seen the work being done on the long-abandoned Second Niger Bridge, roads are being constructed in many parts of the region, and we believe there is every reason to support you for a second term,” Obidiegwu said.

The group described President Buhari as the “grandfather of war against indiscipline and corruption, nightmare of insurgents, Mr Food Security, consolation to pensioners, and Mr Frugality.”

While thanking the group for their show of support, the president said his government is putting every needed effort at organizing the country.

The president, who accused the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of mismanaging the country’s resources, said the extent of mismanagement his government met when it assumed office was mind-boggling.

“Many times, I have spoken about the tremendous resources available to us between 1999 and 2014, and how it was frittered.

“If only they had used just 25% of it on infrastructure; road, rail, power, Nigerians would mind their own businesses, and not bother about whoever was in power… No wonder they are in opposition now, despite all the power they thought they had,” Buhari added.

President Buhari had last week received a delegation from the South-East Amalgamated Market Traders Association of Nigeria which also pledged its unyielding support to his second term bid.
