Buhari appoints Soludo, Rewane economic advisory council members

President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed former Central Bank of Nigeria Governor, Prof Chukwuma Soludo, into the Economic Advisory Council (EAC).

The president’s spokesman, Femi Adesina, announced this in a statement on Monday.

Chairman of the council is Prof. Doyin Salami while Dr Mohammed Sagagi will serve as vice-chairman

Other members of the council are Prof Ode Ojowu, Dr Shehu Yahaya, Dr Iyabo Masha, Mr Bismark Rewane and Dr Mohammed Adaya Salisu, who will serve as secretary.

The advisory council will replace the current Economic Management Team (EMT) chaired by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and will report directly to the president.

It will advise President Buhari on economic policy matters, including fiscal analysis, economic growth and a range of internal and global economic issues working with the relevant cabinet members and heads of monetary and fiscal agencies.

“The EAC will have monthly technical sessions as well as scheduled quarterly meetings with the President. The Chairman may, however, request for unscheduled meetings if the need arises,” Adesina’s statement said.
