British press celebrates Iheanacho’s strike in FA Cup

Super Eagles forward, Kelechi Iheanacho, became the toast of British media following his historic strike for Leicester City in the FA Cup replay on Tuesday.

Iheanacho, 21, got a rare start for the Foxes against Fleetwood Town and made it count with two superb strikes in each half.

The Nigerian opened the scoring in the latter stages of the first, superbly finishing Islam Slimani’s pass before making history in the second.

His strike 13 minutes from the time required the intervention of the video assistant referee.

Referee Jonathan Moss asked to check if the striker was offside before finishing off Riyad Mahrez’s beautiful reverse pass.

Replays showed Iheanacho was onside when the ball was played and the goal stood to see Leicester progress to a fourth-round tie away at Peterborough.

Being the first goal ever scored in the United Kingdom using VAR, the press was all over the Nigerian.
