BREAKING: Supreme Court upholds Sanwo-Olu, Dapo Abiodun’s elections

The Supreme Court has upheld the election of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos and Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun.

Justice Mary Peter-Odili, leading a seven-man panel on Wednesday, upheld Mr Sanwo-Olu’s election after dismissing two separate appeals against his victory.

Labour Party (LP) and the Alliance for Democracy (AD) had both appealed against Sanwo-Olu’s victory.

The court also dismissed the appeal by Adekunle Akinlade and his party, the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), against the victory of Mr Abiodun.

Justice Dattijo Mohammed ruled that the applicants did not prove their allegation of non-compliance to the electoral laws.

“There is a failure to establish the substance of the alleged non-compliance,” the court ruled.
