BoviPopular comedian, Bovi Ugboma, has been described as a very stingy person by a congregation of ‘alright sir boys’ in Lagos.

The ‘boys’ – who almost always come as praise singers and drummers at events irrespective of their age – accosted the comedian at the Haven Event Centre, Ikeja, Lagos, on Friday, February 27, where he had been contracted to anchor the launch of Nigeria Breweries newest offering, Ace Smooth.

They sang his praise to high heaven with the hope that he will drop a sizeable amount of money for them, but were sorely disappointed when he left without giving them anything.

All their sweet lyrics were inadequate to get Bovi to ‘shake body.’

As some of the security personnel were trying to lead him to his Range Rover Sport SUV, Bovi addressed the rag-tag band of musicians thus: “The truth is that I have money, but I didn’t bring it here, so I have nothing to give you.”

Initially, the musicians thought he was up to one of his jokes, and they continued trailing and singing for him, praying that he would change his mind. But with a corny smile permanently plastered across his face, Bovi did not part with a kobo before he was driven off.

In anger, one of the elderly drummers commented, “This is one of the stingiest celebrities I’ve ever seen in my life. At his young age, he’s driving Range Rover Sport, yet he can’t part with one naira…too bad of him.” And his colleagues concurred.

Meanwhile, Bovi informed qed.ng that he is on the set of a movie, and he’s excited about it. In his words, “I’m currently on location for a movie and I’m excited about it. It is something that has always been in the works, but no time to execute it.”

Brushing aside reports that he is dumping comedy for acting, Bovi said, “I am not dumping comedy for acting. As a matter of fact, I started out acting, so it’s something that has always been in me.”

Also sharing his political views, Bovi who has never hidden his support for President Goodluck Jonathan did a little pitch for his candidate of choice.

“Am I permitted to campaign for a candidate of my choice? Firstly, we need to understand that we have different opinions. That someone does not support your particular candidate doesn’t make the person bad. Please vote for Goodluck Jonathan so that he can continue his good works,” he concluded.
