Boko Haram

Suspected Boko Haram fighters have abducted at least three humanitarian workers and a Nigerian soldier in the northern part of Borno State.

The aid workers ran into an ambush on Tuesday while travelling with a military escort from Maiduguri to Monguno.

Borno State Government confirmed the incident on Friday.

Although, the humanitarian organisations which two of the three aid workers work for are not yet confirmed, Borno State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) said one of the three aid workers was their official.

Executive Chairperson of SEMA, Yabawa Kolo, described the abduction as “sad and very unfortunate”, adding that the incident has been reported to security agencies.

Mrs Kolo said security agents are currently working on information received from the driver of the car, “who was spared by the insurgents.”
