Alleged DSS employee who jumped into lagoon still missing — LASEMA

Lagos lagoon woman Adetutu Adedokun

The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) has said that the body of a woman who jumped inside the lagoon along the Third Mainland Bridge corridor on Thursday is yet to be recovered.

The woman Adetutu Adedokun is alleged to be an unarmed combat instructor at the Department of State Services (DSS).

Giving an update on the search, LASEMA permanent secretary Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu explained that investigations have failed to produce the driver of the car that she boarded prior to the incident.

Adedokun reportedly alighted from a Uber taxi car on the bridge and plunged into the lagoon on Thursday afternoon. The driver of the taxi claimed she was having a heated conversation with her fiance before alighting from the car.

Oke-Osanyintolu added that the response team has changed from rescue to recovery and is now observing the tide while relying on locals for any useful information.

“The body of adult female identified as Adetutu Adedokun that was reported by eyewitnesses to have jumped into the lagoon is yet to be recovered,” he said on Saturday.

“The lady is said to be a staff of the Department of State Services. Investigations have failed to produce the driver of the car that she was in prior to the unfortunate incident.

“The response team has changed from rescue to recovery and is now observing the tide and is relying on locals for any useful information. Further updates to follow.”
