Actress Bimbo Ademoye has confronted a group of area boys who disrupted her outdoor film shoot, demanding money from the production crew.

A video of the incident surfaced on X on Thursday after it was shared by user #Usmanashafe, drawing reactions and renewing concerns about extortion targeting filmmakers working in public spaces.

In the clip, the actress is seen standing her ground as the men made aggressive demands for a “settlement”, a term commonly used for payments requested by street groups during shoots in parts of Lagos.

Speaking in a mix of English, Nigerian Pidgin and Yoruba, Bimbo said she was willing to give voluntarily but rejected being forced to pay.

“I am a street girl, let me tell you. Ask around, when it comes to matters of the street, I like settling boys. But you don’t come to me and tell me to give you a certain amount,” she said.

When one of the men replied that he had not come to beg, the actress pushed back.

“Yes, you came to beg. You are even being proud of it,” she said.

The exchange became more tense when one of the men threatened to switch off her camera. Bimbo responded, “Camera that nobody in your generation has.”

The men, said to be between three and five, did not physically attack anyone in the video, but their presence disrupted filming. No weapons were visible.

Incidents like this are not uncommon in Lagos, where film crews often face interference from local groups demanding payments before allowing shoots to continue. Industry stakeholders have repeatedly raised concerns about the effect on production schedules, safety and costs.

The The Actors Guild of Nigeria and other film bodies have in the past called for better protection for filmmakers and clearer regulations for location filming, especially in busy urban areas.

As of the time of this report, the exact location of the shoot could not be independently verified, and there has been no official statement from authorities regarding the incident.
