Ben Iroha: NFF celebrates ex-Super Eagles star at 49

Former Nigeria international, Ben Iroha, clocked 49 on Thursday.

The ex-Golden Eaglets assistant coach was born on November 29, 1969.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) took out time to applaud the once dependable left-back.

Iroha marked his day alongside Sunday Felaye, a member of the home-based squad to the last CHAN.

Mr Iroha was originally a midfielder before national coach Clemens Westerhof converted him to defence.

The 49-year-old started his career at Bendel Insurance in 1989, before joining Heartland.

His club career in Europe was largely unsuccessful, with spells at Vitesse Arnhem, San Jose Clash, DC United, Elche and Watford.

Iroha was an integral part of the Super Eagles at the 1994 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) and FIFA World Cup.

He garnered 50 appearances for the country.
